Consigning to Auction
In consigning property to auction, the seller retains ownership until the
successful sale of the item at auction. When property is consigned to Elite
Decorative Arts for auction, we devote the expertise of our specialists and
professional staff to achieving an outstanding price at auction.
Consignment Agreement
After reviewing the auction estimates, the next step in the consignment
process is to review a Consignment Agreement for your property. Points to be
reviewed include assigning an auction date for your property, sales
commission, insurance charges and policies, photography and shipping fees,
and any use of name that you permit us to use in advertising or printed
catalogues. Complete confidentiality is assumed unless otherwise noted on
the Consignment Agreement.
Delivering Your Property
Once the consignment agreement and presale auction estimates have been
discussed and agreed upon you make an appointment to bring in your property
or we can assist you in hiring one of our recommended third party shippers.
Presale Confirmation of Estimates
Communication is an essential part of the selling process, and our staff
will confirm auction estimates and catalogue descriptions shortly after the
property arrives at our gallery. A final receipt will be mailed to your home
for your records. Any changes or additions may be discussed at this time.
Post-Sale Results and Settlement
You will be contacted after the auction with the results of the sale.
Settlement checks and statements are mailed out thirty days after the
auction per the Consignment Agreement.
