Lot 60a - GELINDO MONZINI CARVED CARRARA MARBLE BUST OF ZEUS
Gelindo Monzini (Milan, 1840 - 1914) hand carved Carrara marble bust depicting the majestic image of Zeus. Signed "G MONZINI" and dated 1889. Measures 32" height x 27" width (81.2cm x 68.5cm). Monzini exhibited in Naples, Turin, Milan and Rome, and was known to be working in Milan between 1877 and 1889. A marble bust by Monzini can be found at the Sydney Museum. Pre-Sale estimate $1500-$2500.
